1.
She cries as neighbours share all of the lies of their intimate affair She waits for him to leave. So is he late or is she foolish to believe? Fifteen years gone and he’s no closer Fifteen years gone. It’s over! So young when they first met. Her body slung into the softest silhouette Now she’s way past her prime and can’t believe that she has wasted so much time Fifteen years gone and he’s no closer Fifteen years gone. It’s over! Fifteen years, fifteen years Fifteen years gone and he’s no closer Fifteen years gone. It’s over!
2.
And in the violence of total silence both our lives did change Two once lonely silhouettes sway and slide upon the bed I felt my heartbeat we never did speak two targets both in range One boy shouts and one girl screams something died inside my dreams You and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. And in the mirror her body shimmer moon on a navy blue Perfection does fleet and fly, do not let it pass you by It was the summer, the bloody summer, god I did burn my skin Watching from the behind the trees, something died besides the leaves You and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me. It was you and me and you and me and you and me and you and me and you
3.
Like A Fly 02:24
Why so afraid of losing control of control? It’s her parade, so let her unfold from the cold She’s like a girl who’s like a fly Landing here, then flitting by Don’t crush her charm, give her the room let her bloom Drop and disarm, and never assume she needs you She’s like a girl who’s like a fly Landing here, then flitting by Just like a fly, not like a girl She wraps her wings around the world
4.
Some people will die and others will fly to the moon So which one are you? Some people will rise and others will sign out too soon Don’t let it be you The storm, the seas, the rhythm on the breeze The light beside the bed The rain, the sound, wet feet upon the ground They stamp on his damp head Some people will die and others will fly to the moon Just like you, just like you Some people will rise and others will sign out too soon Please don’t let it be you Some people will fly but I want to die on the moon
5.
And there’s a house on the hill that bled Inside my head I scratch your shoulder Along corridors, lonely and ignored And in a house where love disappeared I’m wrapped in fear of getting older A lonely man, no one to hold my hand Inside our grey house I hear footsteps at the door Too many feet I cannot sleep Your love sounds seep in through the bedroom floor I sit awake and shake And there’s a house full of picture frames I lay the blame with desperation Square at your feet, so dainty and petite And in a house where your love did love melt I felt the loneliest sensation I sit and sleep, punish and repeat Inside our grey house I hear footsteps at the door Too many feet I cannot sleep Your love sounds seep in through the bedroom floor, so sad Inside our grey house I hear footsteps at the door Too many feet I cannot sleep Your love sounds seep in through the bedroom floor I sit awake and shake

about

The EP of Hope and Despair is the debut recording by Sheffield brothers Low Duo.

Recorded in one day at G2 Studios, every song features only one voice and one musical instrument.

The EP has received wonderful reviews:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's pretty intense. Low Duo give fresh lustre to that overworked notion of the darkly powerful."
The Guardian, 'new band of the day' no. 986

"A distinctive emotional atmosphere I haven't heard since the first dEUS album - a high, high compliment."
Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music

5/5 "The most beautiful body of music to come out of Sheffield this generation. No exaggeration.
There are very few talents in the world you can compare to the late Jeff Buckley, but this is certainly one of them. Truly magnificent songwriters."
Will Hitchmough, Counterfeit Magazine

“Ace minimalist eerie dark duo that have a repertoire of absolute tear jerkers that will rip the heart clean out of your rib cage”
Eighth Word Murder Club

"8/10 - Beautiful and delicate, there's magic in the space between the notes and in Leigh's haunting and cracked yet powerful voice. Truly magnificent."
Whisperin' and Hollerin'

"Low Duo have stripped back superfluities until all that remains is raw emotion and beautiful tunes to convey it. In this and the poetic emotion power, particularly of opener ‘Fifteen Years’ one can liken the listening experience that perhaps felt by early listeners of The Smiths, tumbling with their tortured soul."
It's All Happening

"An amazing voice accompanied by a great musician, what these two have to offer is brilliant."
Adam Hardy, allgigs.co.uk

"The back to basics approach has really worked for these two; absolutely outstanding."
Daz Walsh, Sheffield Music Scene

"The raw brilliance of their music echoes through the emotive lyrics giving their songs a subtle anthemic feel. Definitely a band that will take Sheffield by storm."
Music Without ID

"The lyrics are poetic and heartfelt, and the delivery is totally compelling... a new and important local talent."
Exposed Magazine

"These songs get under your skin and creep up and down your spine, firmly lodging themselves somewhere deep inside you, their simplicity making them incredibly easy to get immersed in. It really is amazing how much Low Duo get out of such simple stripped back arrangements - they leave you on the edge of your seat, genuinely touched, and there's so little going on musically that you wonder how they do it."
Lend Them Your Ears

"Mesmerising and affecting, Low Duo really are one of the most impressive bands to have come out of this generation of the sheffield music scene."
The Sheffield Scenester

"Low Duo are the PRS new artist of the week"
Performing Rights Society (PRS) Magazine

"Low Duo, through the simple device of voice and guitar, restore lustre to a way of making pop music in England. This piece is a magnificent tribute to The Smiths, Felt and other Mc Carthy. Perhaps the big buzz of 2011 pop."
K Fuel Radio (France)

"A stunning directorial debut. Words of black poetry are at times overwhelming, with songs recalling the most beautiful tones of a melancholy Morrissey. Formed only in August 2010, the brotherly duo are attracting rave reviews already and have recently been put forward by Paul Lester of The Guardian."
toujoursuncoupdavance.com (France)

"Songs about distressing dreams and bloody summers, as if Nick Drake and The Smiths in their most depressed moments, were compressed into two. All this from rough home videos filmed in front of peeled wallpaper. Despite their short career Low Duo have already opened the tour of Anna Calvi, the English sensation of the moment. Right after journalists began to talk of how Leigh Greenwood's voice soars over the fluid guitar of his brother Adam, recalling immediately Jeff Buckley. Quite notable considering this is just one guitar and one voice."
Laboratorio Pop (Portugal)

"A carefully-crafted beauty."
James Morris, The Ark Magazine

"So much longing that at times you forget it's just two brothers, one armed with a guitar, the other with his great pipes, doing one great racket."
Sloucher.org

"Dynamic and emotional, The EP of Hope and Despair is more just The EP of Hope to me. It gives me hope that Sheffield has produced a band that is different, a band that is unique."
